LHC UMC Key 3s –
I am following up on our last communication regarding changing chartered organizations away from the United Methodist Church. As a reminder, the UMC church is still supporting Scouting, but forging a path for a new type of relationship with the organization. By the end of 2022, the UMC will no longer be a chartered organization and we the Longhorn Council is here to assist.
This week on Tuesday evening the Longhorn Council Executive Board approved that the Longhorn Council can be a chartering organization for a unit, which allows your unit to choose from 3 different options in continuing its scouting Journey. You may have seen a similar chart to this in the past. We are going to share in order which way we recommend looking into for the continued journey.
1. Finding a new Traditional Chartered organization and continuing to meet at the UMC church with an approved Facilities use agreement. Traditional charters that may work in this option are Rotary Clubs, Lions Clubs, etc… This option keeps Scouting as close to what you know as possible.
2. Utilizing the Affiliate Organization agreement and the Longhorn Council becomes the chartered organization for your unit. This option allows your unit to continue to meet at the UMC church, but there would be some changes in reporting your unit finances and assets to the council.
3. Finding a new traditional chartered organization. This option would allow your chartered relationship to continue as normal, but this would mean moving meeting spaces and no longer meeting at the UMC church.
4. Group of Citizens Units – Now that the LHC can become the chartered organization for you, we DO NOT recommend this option, where there is some liability that would fall on the parents of the unit.
Please see the link below to help you decide which option works best for you. Please reply back to this email to let me know which option your Scouting Unit is looking to utilize. We would like to begin the paperwork now to provide a seamless transition through recharter.

Good evening!
The month has flown by and this is one of those that has 5 Thursdays. I’ve been eyeing the 5th Thursday but our meeting is this coming Thursday, September 22nd, 7:00 PM, at the council service center. Please make every effort to attend AND invite your commissioners!
Rechartering is the topic and John Hearrell, Stacy Cummings and Scot will be talking about this. They will be going over the changes in the system and how to make the process as easy as possible.
Also, please begin encouraging ALL units to update their YPT. The longer they wait the greater chance the charter might be kicked back after 1-1-23.
I hope to see a large crowd and everyone on the same page.
See you on Thursday!

I have 2 girls regularly attending troop 12B. I would like to as soon as possible create Troop 12G and then prep GIRLS 14 and 15 for eagle merit badges for the January Merit Badge College. We have girls who are working on Webelos in Pack 12 and will receive all girls interested in scouting from Pack & Troop 180.I received a notice that I was removed from the lonestar district

Everyone-
I made the same change to the Commissioner's mailing list as I did to the District mailing list so that it will show who sender of the message is and will put their e-mail address in the CC field.
Hitting "reply" will still go to everyone the list, but to facilitate a private reply if desired the information will be there to do so.
I appreciate your patience with me...
