Lone Star District News
See you This Thursday August 11th for Roundtable and Ice Cream Social!
Calling all Cub Scout Leaders! This month's Roundtable is focused on successful membership campaigns. If you are a Cubmaster, Den Leader, Committee Member for a Cub Scout Pack, you need to come!! Plus, did I mention we will have Ice Cream? We will also have a recycled raingutter regatta as a gathering activity. We will meet in person (no virtual meeting this month) at 7PM at:
Lighthouse Fellowship
7200 Robertson Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76135
New Field Director
As many of you know, our District Executive Chris Bankus resigned to pursue an opportunity overseas. The council is working on hiring a replacement, but in the mean time the Field Director for our service area Ryan Thompson is filling in as DE. He has been in contact with many of the units, but you'll have a chance to meet him in person at Roundtable and hear the membership plans for the District.
IOLS/BALOO September
Attached is the flier for IOLS/BALOO training September 30th at Camp Holland. Having a BALOO trained leader on-site is required for a Cub Scout family campout, and IOLS is required to be position trained for Assistant Scoutmaster and Scoutmaster. You Scouts deserve a trained leader, and this is the perfect opportunity to get this great training close by in Weatherford. Registration is here: https://scoutingevent.com/662-SF_IOLS
Popcorn
It's popcorn season! If you have not yet committed to this years popcorn sale, you can do so by clicking here!<https://www.trails-end.com/unit-registration?council=ce5947f5-f21c-11e5-a5e…> (it is not loo late to commit your unit to a 0 liability (no financial risk to the unit*) fundraiser that supports your unit and the local council). You can check-out the first edition of the LHC Kernal Journal Here<http://www.icontact-archive.com/archive?c=100695&f=158112&s=136672&m=320705…>!
YPT Changes
In 2021, the Longhorn Council adopted a policy that requires all registered adult leaders to complete Youth Protection Training on an annual basis. If any adult leader has a YPT certification that is set to expire in 2022, they must complete this training as soon as possible. Adult leaders with expiring YPT will have their BSA membership suspended on the first day of the month that their YPT is set to expire. For example, an adult whose YPT expires on August 15th will have their membership suspended on August 1st. You can check your YPT status by visiting my.scouting.org<https://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=1097291604&msgid=32070399&act=56…>. They Key 3 of each Scouting unit can also check the status of their leaders by visiting my.scouting.org<https://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=1097291604&msgid=32070399&act=56…> and navigating to the Training Manager.
If an adult leader has their membership suspended, they cannot participate in any Scouting activities.
Much Much More at Roundtable
With Back to School in full swing and the beginning of the 2022-2023 program year, there are tons of things going on that are important and will be helpful for your unit. Come have some Ice Cream with us and find out all about it!
Yours in Scouting,

Since September 1st, there have been 30 new Youth Members sign up in the Lone Star District. Leading the way is Pack 435 with 9 new Cub Scouts.
Thank you so much to everyone who is assisting with Scout Talks and Sign Up Nights. It's making a difference.
YIS,
Tom

I believe Jeff wants to leave this mailing list. I also want to leave this mailing list since I am with Brazos Valley now. I understand that more emails is better than “No one told me” but this is not better.
