Jose will be on hand to accept signed Charter Agreements and Commissioners will be on-hand for Journey to Excellence form turn in. Bring a patch or small scouting item for Cypriot Scout Troops 40 to this Thursday's Roundtable Greetings – Attend this month’s Lone Star District Roundtable in person and, if you bring a patch or some other small scout item to put in a shipment to Cyprus Troop 40, you will be entered into some door prizes of Troop 40 bling – two T-shirts and their Troop neckerchief and woggle. The troop wish to add US scouting patches to their patch wall (see below) In October, Lee Sperry was able to visit not one but two scout huts in Nicosia, Cyprus; Troops 40 and 76. At Troop 40, the scout leader was getting married that day so there was no meeting but Lee met two of the scout leaders who were doing some planning and was able to photo their scout hut. A typical Cypriot Scout Hut (note that every scout quartermaster seems to struggle keeping equipment organized) Also note the BSA patches (Ex: 50 miler) on their patch banners– I have the Troop’s mailing address and told them I would send some patches from our Council to add to their banners when I returned. Upon Troop 40s recommendation, Lee was then able to visit Troop 76 later that afternoon. The Troop was conducting their crossover ceremony where Scouts crossed over into Rovers (Venture/Explorer equivalent). Note like many overseas scouts, all three scouting levels (Cubs, Scouts, Rovers) meeting at the same time. Several of the Rovers Lee spoke with attended the World Jamboree held at Summit in 2018 and had fond memories of engaging with US scouts. See you tomorrow!!! This month's Roundtable is focused on successful membership campaigns. If you are a Cubmaster, Den Leader, Committee Member for a Cub Scout Pack, you need to come!! Plus, did I mention we will have Ice Cream? We will also have a recycled raingutter regatta as a gathering activity. We will meet in person (no virtual meeting this month) at 7PM at: Lighthouse Fellowship 7200 Robertson Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76135 New Field Director As many of you know, our District Executive Chris Bankus resigned to pursue an opportunity overseas. The council is working on hiring a replacement, but in the mean time the Field Director for our service area Ryan Thompson is filling in as DE. He has been in contact with many of the units, but you'll have a chance to meet him in person at Roundtable and hear the membership plans for the District. IOLS/BALOO September Attached is the flier for IOLS/BALOO training September 30th at Camp Holland. Having a BALOO trained leader on-site is required for a Cub Scout family campout, and IOLS is required to be position trained for Assistant Scoutmaster and Scoutmaster. You Scouts deserve a trained leader, and this is the perfect opportunity to get this great training close by in Weatherford. YPT Changes In 2021, the Longhorn Council adopted a policy that requires all registered adult leaders to complete Youth Protection Training on an annual basis. If any adult leader has a YPT certification that is set to expire in 2022, they must complete this training as soon as possible. Adult leaders with expiring YPT will have their BSA membership suspended on the first day of the month that their YPT is set to expire. For example, an adult whose YPT expires on August 15th will have their membership suspended on August 1st.
